Earth Guild

This wonderful group of folks sponsors Green Sunday, country hikes, urban clean-ups, an organic vegetable cooperative, recycling/composting at church, and Earth Day activities such as speakers on energy efficiency. We set the bar high for environmental stewardship and ecotheological questioning and were named the 2008 winner of the prestigious GIPL award as “Georgia’s Greenest Church of the Year.” We meet monthly on Wednesday nights during the school year.
Co-Leaders:

Earth Guild Happenings

Come one, come all as the Earth Guild begins another wonderful year of conversation about our relationship with all of God's creation! We will read, hike, eat, drink and converse together as we contemplate our spiritual connection with the natural world. Our monthly meetings will alternate between Sundays at 12:30pm and Wednesday evenings at 7pm in the library (Rm 201). For more information call Kathie Ryan at 404.377.2467 or kathieryan@bellsouth.net or call Sharon O'Flaherty at 404.441.9829 or soflaherty@kemron.com.

Save the Date:

Sunday, 11/6, 12:30pm: Deepdene Park picnic (across Ponce de Leon from the church); BYOP and we'll talk about how we work with other groups at Epiphany.

Wednesday, 12/7, 7pm: Come early for dinner, then bring a reading to share using a Christmas theme: incarnation.

Affordable Housing Project

“Members of Epiphany’s Earth Guild (Kathie Ryan, Ted & Lissa Jackson and Sharon O’Flaherty) recently completed an outreach project funded through a grant from Epiphany's Endowment Board with the Initiative for Affordable Housing (IAH) in Decatur on June 11. The Earth Guild provided compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), also known as energy efficient light bulbs, to 84 low-income senior residents in the IAH’s Magnolia Circle property. Magnolia Circle is a certified EarthCraft property, making it environmentally friendly and saving residents up to 50% on their energy bills. Along with the light bulbs, bookmarks were distributed that contained a few statistics comparing CFLs to incandescent bulbs, and Earth Guild members, along with Magnolia Circle’s property manager, spoke to residents regarding the benefits of these energy saving light bulbs. The Earth Guild members enjoyed meeting the residents, who were very appreciate of this gift, and then had a tour of the property’s vegetable garden.

Founded in 1898, Epiphany is a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta, The Right Reverend J. Neil Alexander, Bishop.
