The Epiphany Youth Education Committee is dedicated to fostering a joy-filled love of God. We strive to make Epiphany a home for all children, and a place they long to come to and want to stay. The Epiphany Youth Education Program nurtures and educates our children in the Christian Faith and the Episcopal Church. At every phase of education, we use scripture and liturgical practices and traditions. As we foster the confidence that God is at work in our lives to engage our Holy Imagination, we hope to inspire a long-lasting relationship of peace, outreach, understanding and stewardship.
Except where otherwise indicated, the contact for Children’s Ministries is The Rev. Cynthia Hizer, 404.373.8338 or Vestry Chair, Randy Stewart, 404.549.8375.
Our parents and parishioners are our greatest resource! If you would like to volunteer in any capacity - from helping with snacks on Sunday morning, fixing a bulletin board, teaching, or helping with Youth Group—we want to hear from you! Please contact The Rev. Cynthia Hizer, 404.373.8338.
Children & Youth Formation Committee
Our Christian Education Committee is vibrant and busy. We plan the programming for children and youth, train teachers and offer on-going teacher support.
- The Journey to Adulthood Program encompasses youth from grades 6-12. Classes meet from 10 to 11:00 a.m. each Sunday. Each group runs for two years and offers many opportunities for community building with themselves and with the other groups.
Rite 13 is for 6th and 7th graders. Rite 13 offers a safe and responsible environment for questioning and testing their faith and a meaningful Rite 13 ceremony to mark their movement away from childhood toward adulthood.
J2A is for 8th and 9thgraders. In the first year the group goes on an urban adventure and in the second year, goes on a pilgrimage. The last group explored parts of Atlanta they’d never seen before. They worked on the Jumble Sale this summer to raise money for their pilgrimage next summer. The final destination is still to be determined.
- YAC for 10th and 11th graders. YAC, or Young Adults in the Church, move their foundation of faith into choosing ministries in which to participate in the church. The YAC group prepares for Confirmation.
Epiphany Youth Group
Sunday nights at 5:00 p.m. from August 21 to May 6, youth and dedicated adults gather for activities from putt-putt to planting trees, laughing and eating, sharing stories and their lives in a relaxed setting.
